Easy Garlic Butter Wild Rice Skillet
You don’t need a massive list of ingredients to make wild rice taste incredible. This simple, one-skillet recipe highlights the natural, nutty flavor of wild rice by pairing it with savory garlic butter, tender mushrooms, and fresh herbs. It’s an effortless, comforting dish that comes together quickly but tastes like it came straight out of a premium American bistro.
Ingredients
The Skillet Base
- 1 box (6 oz) Wild Rice Blend
- 2 TBSP Butter (or Olive Oil)
- 8 oz Cremini or Button Mushrooms, Sliced
- 3 Cloves Garlic, Minced
The Fresh Finish
- ¼ Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1/2 TBSP Parsley Flakes
- Salt to taste
- Ground Pepper
Directions
- Cook the rice: Prepare the quick-cooking wild rice blend according to the package instructions using water or vegetable broth. Set aside.
- Sauté the mushrooms: While the rice cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 5–6 minutes until they are beautifully browned and tender.
- Add the garlic: Turn the heat down to medium. Stir the minced garlic into the mushrooms and cook for just 1 minute until it becomes incredibly fragrant, taking care not to let it burn.
- Toss and Season: Pour the cooked wild rice directly into the skillet with the garlic mushrooms. Toss everything together thoroughly so the rice absorbs that rich garlic butter flavor. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from the heat. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese and fresh chopped parsley over the top. Serve warm right out of the skillet and enjoy!
